Program: Folklore & Traditional Arts Grant Program

Overview: The Folklife & Traditional Arts grant supports non-profit organizations that seek to promote and preserve the traditional arts practiced across the state. Priority for funding is given to projects that provide recognition and support for South Carolina's traditional art forms and their practitioners.

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be a nonprofit, charitable organization registered in the State of South Carolina or working through a fiscal agent that meets these requirements. Program: Quarterly Project Support for Artists and Organizations

Agency/Funding Body: South Carolina Arts Commission

Overview: For Organizations: Quarterly Project Support is provided for a wide variety of quality arts projects and programs and/or for professional development opportunities to assist artistic and managerial staff.

For Artists: This category is designed to support specific arts activities that promote individual artist's professional development or career advancement. Projects that promote excellence in an arts discipline and make such excellence accessible for general community-wide audiences are also encouraged. Quarterly project grants are awarded to help pay actual project costs; ordinary living expenses during the project cannot be supported with SCAC funds.

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be a A unit of government, or a S.C. charitable organization with current registration from the Office of the Secretary of State of South Carolina that either has its own federal tax-exempt status with the IRS, or applies through a fiscal agent.

SCAC requires that a fiscal agent and the applicant organization enter into a formal agreement that outlines the working relationship and responsibilities of both parties. A letter must be submitted with the application.

Deadline: May 15 for projects beginning after July 1 and ending before June 1
August 15 for projects beginning after October 1 and ending before June 1
November 15 for projects beginning after January 1 and ending before June 1
February 15 for projects beginning after April 1 and ending before June 1

Program: Operating Support for Small Organizations

Agency/Funding Body: South Carolina Arts Commission

Overview: Operating Support for Small Organizations (OSS) is designed as a simple way for small arts organizations to apply for S. C. Arts Commission general operating support funding.

This grant is unrestricted, which means grantees may use it for any general operating expense such as staff salaries, paying the electric bill, printing programs, buying supplies, etc.

Eligibility Requirements: Your arts organization may apply for this grant if it meets all of these requirements:
- has its own federal tax-exempt status with the IRS* and is currently registered with the office of the Secretary of State
- has a primary mission to provide, produce or present arts experiences for your community
- has a permanent S.C. address reflected in all official documents (IRS, etc.)
- has completed at least one fiscal year of programming
- had a total expense budget of less than $75,000 for the last completed fiscal year.

Program: Subgranting Program

Agency/Funding Body: Black Creek Arts Council

Overview: Black Creek Arts Council operates a subgranting program that funds programs and projects by arts-presenting non-profit organizations and individual artists in Darlington County.

Deadline: December 15 - This deadline is for projects taking place between July and September.
February 15 - This deadline is for projects taking place between October and December.
June 15 - This deadline is for projects taking place between January and March.
